'Bipolar' you think "what, WHO ME,??" right?? That is one of the first things that comes to mind when the doc gives you a diagnosis!! Having a diagnosis is a good thing. If you have been sick at least you have a name to it now :)

You are probably wondering, OK now what?? Talk with your doc, see about a support group in your area. Or on the net! Ask questions about your meds, don't leave any rock unturned. It's for your well being, you need to be informed about every aspect of your care.

We can lead productive lives. It just takes some effort. We have to get enough sleep, eat properly, excersise, and most importantly see our DOC'S REGULARY, and take our MED'S without FAIL.
Talk to your doc about everything, how you feel, what the med's make you feel like and so forth. Some of the meds don't make me feel so good! :( Its times like that that leave me discourged. But I keep plugging away at it. I take valproic acid right now to help stabilize my mood. Do not get discourged if some of the meds don't work or stop working because there are always more out there to try!!

Having people to talk to about your illness is a good thing, it has helped me tremendously. Take time for yourself! Whether it be to read a book, go for a walk or have coffee by yourself, have a bubble bath *LOL* Use a journal to keep your thoughts in!!

Try to avoid STRESS if possible. It can trigger your moods.

We are all a group of people who care alot and love you for who you are!!
